Dear Potential New Members,

A2198AB5-F3B0-45DA-B4A7-C18F6B421B49.jpe

First, congratulations on your decision to join Grand Valley's Greek Life! I believe I speak for my entire chapter when I say recruitment is a very exciting time for Xi Psi that holds a special place in our hearts. Formal recruitment allows us to share what Delta Zeta means to each and every one of us. This process, although tiring, is one of the most rewarding times for our chapter as we have the opportunity to welcome new women into our sisterhood.

By joining a sorority, you not only become a part of an organization but a sisterhood filled with amazing women who support and empower each other on a daily basis. The life-long friends I have made through Delta Zeta have been there for me through the highs and the lows and have given me a sense of home away from home when I needed it most. My college experience would have been so much different without these amazing ladies by my side, and I am so thankful we were brought together through Greek Life. Not only has Delta Zeta introduced me to some amazing friendships, but has given me opportunities to grow in service, leadership, and academics. We all truly love to share our values and experiences with the women in our community during recruitment, and we are so excited for you to experience the DZ love that characterizes our chapter! If you have any questions pertaining to recruitment and Delta Zeta membership, we are hopeful you will find the answers below. If not, feel free to reach out to the Xi Psi chapter and we would be happy to help!

With love,

Taylor Frank

Vice President of Membership

New Member Educator:

Dear Potential New Member,

I am so excited that you have embraced the wonderful and life changing choice of becoming a future Panhellenic woman. My job as New Member Educator is to help educate you on the ins and outs of our chapter here at Grand Valley. The workshops and events that I put on leading up to initiation are to help give you a strong foundation that will prepare you to be a trustworthy and passionate active member in Delta Zeta. My goal as your potential new member educator is to make you feel comfortable while also allowing you to be heard and understood. Through this experience you will learn about the Delta Zeta history, the key values that make Delta Zeta what it is today, and the key information required to make your transition from a new member to an active member seamless.  The new member education process is designed to bring you closer together with others in your pledge class and to help you to find your place in the Xi Psi chapter at Grand Valley State University.

Personally, the new member education classes introduced me to the chapter and gave me an area to be confidently myself. The transition from high school to college can be difficult, and the classes were a constant reminder that I was truly joining a home away from home.

As you start to become an active member of Delta Zeta I am more than excited to be there to help you grow and develop as you take on this exciting experience!

DZLAM,

Kailey Durant

Vice President of New Member Education

What exactly is a Sorority?

Sororities are a self-sustaining friendship organization composed of female students in colleges and universities. Membership in these sororities is a privilege, and all members are expected to exemplify the finest personal qualities.

Members have high esteem and seek high scholarship, promote cultural interests, participate in campus activities, experience group interaction, provide service to others, cultivate friendships and continually strive to improve themselves. Many of the basic principles of sororities and fraternities are essentially the same, yet each is distinct.

Each sorority fulfills its own purpose and serves the needs of its individual members by developing effective programs in scholarship, campus, community service and self-improvement.

Sororities on college campuses support the aims and purposes of the institution and are guided by the policies and rules of their own organization.
